The “Rock” made it through another winter, place is starting to look great. Winnipeg River water levels are normal to low in our area, water temps at 50 degrees, should be set for an awesome weekend for the Ontario Walleye Opener. Please have safe travels to Rough Rock.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to remind everyone to bring your Ontario Outdoor card for your fishing trip. Also, the regulations are the same on the Winnipeg River System for Non-Residents; 2 walleye, 4 pike, 4 bass with a sport tag. However, the “Rock” is a “Trophy Catch and Release” lodge, we all know that the “good old days” are back, 80-100 fish days are becoming the norm! Can’t wait to see everyone again.

Heading north the 1st of May, we’re counting down to the Ontario Walleye opener. I am offering a 30% discount for the month of May, Join the hunt for the “big girls”, we normally find our biggest walleye feeding on the spawning perch. For bass and pike, smaller spinners, find the warmest waters, and get ready to set the hook! Enjoy your day with your families and friends. I am planning on heading to the “Rock” on May 1st, for those of you who have fished with Roger, he is coming up as well to keep me from falling into the lake, off roofs, shocked etc… you get the point. The Walleye Opener is May 15th, see you soon!

Great to meet everyone at the various sport shows this season, now it’s time to think about the walleye opener…45 days! Last season, there were 8 fish caught and released between 25-30 inches during the 2009 walleye opener. What will this year bring?

Rough Rock Lodge will exhibit at the Minneapolis Convention Center Mar 24-28, booth # 847, stop and say “Hi”. Let’s talk about your 2010 Canada Fishing adventure. We are the home of the Rough Rock “Grand Slam”, a Walleye, Small mouth Bass, Pike and Muskie, all in one day. The record for the quickest “Grand Slam” stands at 1 hour 55 minutes. 14″ Bass, 30″ Pike, 39″ Muskie, all caught on a 1/2oz spinnerbait, 17 1/2″ Walleye on a jig/ Gulp! combo. At Rough Rock Lodge, it’s the fishing!

Season opens the 15th of May, Our guests caught and released 8 fish in one day between 25-29 inches, my terrific guides and long time Rough Rock guests tracked down the big girls feeding on the spawning perch. Pike are easily found basking in the warming bays along with the bass. Think about an early season trip, no pressure, great fishing. Give me a call/email.
